What are the requirements to teach with Kraboo?

Native

You must be native to the language you teach.

Qualifications

You must hold at least a certified teaching qualification (TEFL,CELTA etc)

Commit

Be able to commit to our teaching hours policy.

Professional

Be professional, passionate and reliable in everything you do and teach.

OK! I am interested. What is the process for application?

Step 1

Fill in the form on the right and provide us with the following:

  • Copy of your relevant qualifications (Your data is never shared or published)
  • Your CV and cover letter
  • A recent photo
  • A short video introducing yourself (Please share a link to your video google,youtube, vimeo etc)

Step 2

If you are successful, we will notify you within 5 days. We will send you an email notifying of your success and instructions on how to join our team.

Setup your details and calendars as per the instructions you receive. If you need help let us know or visit the support site. Have a look around there is more than just teaching online lessons available at Kraboo.

step 4

Have fun teaching with us. As an instructor with Kraboo there is more than 1 income stream available. Why not try posting your own course on our system.

FAQ

  • How do I apply?

    Follow the instructions above. Please submit all documents as requested. Please send a link to your introduction video via google/YouTube/Vimeo etc. If we do not receive all your documentation then we will not process your application.

  • I have applied, but I have not heard anything back?

    If you have not heard anything back after 5 days your application was unsuccessful.

  • I don't have a degree. Can I still teach?

    Some of the best teachers do not have a university degree. Yes it is preferable, but not essential. We do require you to have a certified language teaching qualification (TEFL,CELTA etc).

  • How much do I get paid?

    We work on the following pay scales for our online teachers:

    a. If a student signs up for a 5  lessons package or more after a free lesson with you, you receive $5 per student.

    b. Teach between 1-30 lessons you receive $17 per lesson

    c. Teach between 31-80 lessons you receive $18 per lesson

    d. Teach 81 or more lessons $19 per lesson

  • When do I get paid and how?

    We pay on the 10th of each month.

    Currently you must have a paypal account for us to pay you.

  • What are the technical requirements to teach?

    You must have the following:

    • Computer with a webcam or external webcam (HD preferable)
    • A headset with microphone, or other external mic
    • A stable internet connection of at least 2m/bs upload and 10m/bs download speed

  • What is the teaching hours policy?

    You are expected to be available for at least:

    4 free 30 minute lessons per week

    10 paid lessons per week

    You can obviously be available for more and we do encourage it, however please keep an eye on your schedule to ensure there are no double bookings between free lesson times and regular lesson times.

  • Do I need a skype or zoom account?

    Yes. We need you to have a stable platform to be able to teach the students. Both skype and zoom offer this.

    If you do not have a zoom account, signing up is easy. Follow the guide here.

    Our preferred platform is zoom as it is linked directly into the scheduling software.

  • Do I need to do a demo lesson?

    We may ask you to do a short demo lesson. The procedure for this is simple. We will setup a zoom meeting with you and ask you to give us a sample lesson on a topic we give you. Don’t worry we will give you at least 2 days notice of this.

  • Do I need to use off2class?

    No. We use off2class for ourselves, as we find it a great platform to use with our students.

  • Do I need to be native to the language I want to teach?

    Yes. We have a strict policy on this, with no exceptions.

  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    As 1 of our instructors we also give you the chance to earn more by posting online courses using our learning management system. This is exclusive to Kraboo teachers and it gives you another potential income stream.
